Buddleja pterocaulis grows as a medium sized shrub, the green leaves are covered with light grey hairs when young. Requires winter protection so best grown in a pot.
History
Named and described by the British botanist Albert Bruce Jackson in 1935, B.pterocaulis is rare in cultivation.
The species occurs in the wild in Sichuan, SE Xizang and Yunnan Provinces of China plus Bhutan, India and N Myanmar, growing in open woodlands, forest edges or scrub, mostly near riverbanks in mountains at elevations of 1800-4000m.
