Buddleja davidi

Pink Pearl

B. ‘Pink Pearl’ is considered aesthetically inferior to other more recent pink varieties, and was unplaced in the public popularity poll held as part of the Buddleja trials organized by the Royal Horticultural Society at Wisley.

 

 History

This is an old European cultivar of unknown origin. If anyone is able to provide any information on the origin please contact us.

 

  • Flower Colour: Lilac pink
  • Habit: Erect slightly spreading
  • Eventual height: 200-250cm (6-8ft) Spread: 200-250cm (6-8ft)
  • Hardiness: Very hardy - 20°C USDA zones 5-9
  • Leaf colour: Medium green
  • Flowering: Very floriferous. The flowers are 20-25cm (8-9") in length
  • Fragrance: Scented
  • Situation: Prefers a sunny position
  • Wildlife: Good for bees and butterflies
  • Later in the year some close up images of the flowers and leaves will be added along with a botanical description.

AWARD OF GARDEN MERIT

15 Buddleja were awarded an AGM  at the 2008-10 Wisley Trial.  It was mainly the  Buddleja davidii that were judged but we have many others in our 160+ collection which are worthy winners.
