Silvery willow-like foliage and compact habit are the signature qualities of the Nanho Group. If you require smaller less wild-looking shrubs, the Nanho cultivars are the Buddleja to go for.

The silvery grey green leaves provide the perfect backdrop for the lavender blue flowers. The blooms are slightly smaller than other Buddleja but the sheer numbers more than compensate for this.

 History

Buddleja davidii ‘Mongo’ (selling name Nanho BLUE) is a cultivar raised and introduced by the wholesale Monrovia Nursery of California, USA in 1984. The shrub was accorded the RHS Award of Garden Merit in 2002, but was placed on the Sunset List for rescission in 2010 following the release of other compact forms with a superior hue.
