Flaming Violet

In my opinion this plant has little garden value. There are so many newer introductions, so sales have declined over the years.

A large shrub with violet flowers and dark green leaves.

History

Buddleja davidii ‘Flaming Violet’ is an old American cultivar raised by Paul Schmidt at Youngstown, Ohio, and patented in 1942.

  • Situation: Prefers a sunny position
  • Wildlife: Good for bees and butterflies

AWARD OF GARDEN MERIT

15 Buddleja were awarded an AGM  at the 2008-10 Wisley Trial.  It was mainly the  Buddleja davidii that were judged but we have many others in our 160+ collection which are worthy winners.
