B. ‘Dart’s Papillon Blue’ been dismissed as virtually indistinguishable from B. ‘Pixie Blue’
The Pixie series blue, red & white are no longer in the collection at Longstock as I removed them. It was misleading to gardeners as they were not dwarf, growing to 200 -250cm (6-7ft +).
It was suggested at the RHS Buddleja Trial that the name referred to the shape of the flower which resembled a pixie bonnet, I do not go along with that theory.
The first flush of creamy pale blue flowers with a yellow eye are the best but it is a plant of garden value and attracts interest when in flower. Andrew Bullock, another collection holder describes it as ‘a lovely plant’.
History
