Buddleja coriacea forms a small shrub with dark green waxy leaves covered with a fawn felted leaves below. Rarely flowering in the UK, it requires glasshouse protection during the winter and must not be allowed to become waterlogged and the roots freezing.
History
B. coriacea was named and described by French naturalist Jules Achille Rémy in 1847 but not introduced into the UK until about 1994.
The species grows naturally in Bolivia and Peru on semi humid rocky soils at altitudes of 3000-4500m.
